PARKWAY, Sacramento County — Parkway residents have a small neighborhood green space at Kenneth B. Royal Park, 4711 C Parkway, where mature trees, a lawn and picnic space provide an alternative to larger athletic complexes.
Southgate Recreation and Park District says the 2.7-acre park was among the district’s earliest sites, donated in 1957 by Park Place Inc. The surrounding residential streets face the park on three sides. For many years, it served as the endpoint of the Parkway Estates Fourth of July parade, giving the location a role in neighborhood celebrations.
The park was later named to honor Sacramento County sheriff’s deputy Kenneth B. Royal, who died in 1968 while responding to a felony incident. Its stated amenities are open space and picnic space, rather than a full list of playgrounds, courts or staffed programming. Visitors should not assume facilities from other parks are available here.
What Parkway residents should know
The park district’s official directory provides information about the location and how to report maintenance concerns. Residents organizing a group event should ask about reservations before setting up equipment or advertising a public gathering.
